Smoky, almost stalky aromas of desert herbs and brush fire require some patience but come around. A brusque but flush palate with foresty flavors of plum, clove and oak spice holds on to the holiday spice theme on the finish. Given that 2016 was a rough year for most of Mendoza, this Malbec is a success. Michael Schachner
