Finca Koch 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon (Tupungato)

Pretty root beer, prune and cassis aromas start out fast but fade a bit upon airing. The palate is primarily cassis and blackberry, and while the finish is tannic and full, it lacks that final touch of polish you look for in a great red. Nevertheless, it's a good wine from a label that bears watching. Only 200 cases were made. —M.S. Michael Schachner
