Forest Hill 2014 Block 1 Riesling (Mount Barker)

Editors' Choice

From some of the oldest vines in the region, this wine shows the immense difference a little bottle age can make on Great Southern Riesling. Regionally typical aromas of lime, florals, seashell, white spice and wild herb are all there, but time is adding more complex nuances: the honeyed rubbery petrol-like notes so distinctive to aged Riesling. The palate, however, still feels ultrayouthful, lifted by zingy acidity, a talc-like texture, bright lime and floral flavors and an endless finish. There's still a ton of life left in this classy bottling. Drink now until 2034. Christina Pickard
