Aged in 28% new and 72% neutral French oak barrels, I was surprised to learn that it was cofermented with 6% Viognier. I couldn't detect any of the floral or stone-fruit qualities I typically associate with a Syrah-Viognier combination. I did, however, get hit with a wall of bright red-cherry fruit on the nose and the palate. Cola and roasted pork-shoulder notes were buried deep in the background. Michael Alberty
