There is a strong undercurrent of sage, tobacco leaf and damp pavement beneath the plump cherry and blueberry fruit. Polished oak is subtly present. Baking-spice and floral notes creep to the fore as the wine opens. Earthy, savory spiced tannins frame the tangy fruit on the sturdy palate. A cool-climate edge reins in the power and amps up the freshness. Christina Pickard
