Francis Darroze 1972 Domaine de Coquillon Bas Armagnac

Early on, oak, wood resin and glue are major contributing aroma factors; later, the wood intensity becomes dominant and takes on a touch of rancio. Palate offers honeyed tastes of dark caramel and brown sugar; oily tastes of cocoa butter, cream Sherry, dark chocolate and molasses inhabit the midpalate. Aftertaste is long, sap sweet and chewy. This brandy's dalliance with rancio makes the trip worthwhile. P.P.
