François Villard 2017 Version White (Saint-Péray)

This heady white opens on bold notes of vanilla and nut juxtaposed by sun-kissed lemon, apple and jasmine perfume. A 65-35 blend of Marsanne and Roussanne aged on its lees in oak (three to five years old), it's lavishly textural but maintains a purity of fresh yellow apple and tangerine flavors. The finish is long and unctuous. Best now–2027. Anna Lee C. Iijima
