Frank Family 2000 Chardonnay (Napa Valley)

Well-toasted oak dominates the aromas, hauling along the usual vanilla and crushed-spice notes. It's oaky in the mouth, too, full of new-barrel sweetness floating above tropical fruit flavors. Dryish and soft in acids, it has a buttery, creamy mouthfeel. —S.H.
