Gainey 1997 Triada Grenache (Santa Ynez Valley)

A Châteauneuf-type blend of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre and Viognier. Has a lively, fresh nose of fruit purée, with chocolate, ginger, vanilla and smoke. Tastes complex; no particular fruit stands out, but it's fruity and earthy, with herbal and oaky notes. Pretty wine.
