90pointsGary Farrell 1998 Encounter Red (Sonoma County)

Light- to medium-weight in the mouth, particularly considering its pedigree, the Encounter is Farrell's limited-production Bordeaux blend. The nose and palate offer lots of black cherry, coupled with powdery-milky aromas on the nose, and chocolate-earth flavors on the palate. Finishes with good length, and spice and coffee flavors. Only 651 cases made.
