GC 2021 Convivial Red (Willamette Valley)

Editors' Choice

The fruit aromas of this Gamay Noir-Pinot Noir blend were maxed out by seven days of carbonic maceration, followed by nine months in a combination of concrete tank and older French oak. Its sappy cherry and strawberry bubblegum aromas have the most amazing counterpoint of fresh laundry hanging on the clothesline. Flavors like blue raspberry Jolly Rancher hard candies, orange peel and a hint of vanilla bean are fun personified. The tannins are mild and the acidity is electric. Michael Alberty
