Gemtree 2002 Obsidian Shiraz (McLaren Vale)

A very good wine; though the fruit is the same as in the Uncut, this wine spends 10 months more in oak—all new French oak. And it shows. The nose is dusted with dry spices, and the palate has considerable wood-derived bells and whistles hiding the plum fruit underneath. Hold for five years, and dive in.
