Gérard Bertrand 2016 Château La Sauvageonne Grand Vin White (Coteaux du Languedoc)

Medium golden yellow in color, this leads with rich, toasty scents of wood-grilled apple, clove-studded orange peel, ginger, creamed melon and cedar plank. The palate is round and medium in weight, but with bright acidity to counter the rich fruit and override the wood profile. It is still an infant and needs time to integrate fully and mellow the wood aging. The stuffing is all there for a wine that will age and develop gracefully. Lauren Buzzeo
