Gérard Bertrand 2016 Cigalus White (Aude Hauterive)

This deep-gold wine looks rich and ripe right off the bat, and the nose parallels that impression with slightly oxidized notes of toasted nuts, gingered orange peel, melon rind, spiced pear, grilled apple and pineapple upside-down cake. The mouthfeel is full and yet nicely textured, with a light tannic texture and subtle pithy bitterness that lends depth to the otherwise rich and ripe impression. Lauren Buzzeo
