Goldback 2018 Syrah (Rogue Valley)

This single-vineyard expression nicely captures the Rogue Valley's ability to ripen Syrah and find its own unique style. It's there in the aromatics, which bring accents of coffee and Bourbon tea, and it's in the tight dark fruits, wrapped in tannins that bring stem and earth flavors in abundance. It's not the ripe, fruit powered style of California, nor the funky intensity of the Rocks District. It's somewhere in between, in its own distinct niche. Paul Gregutt
