Goose Ridge 2009 Vireo Red (Columbia Valley (WA))

This is roughly one-third each of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, and their individual contributions work harmoniously to craft a dark, meaty wine with cassis, licorice, smoke and espresso flavors. Suggestions of black tea and black coffee continue the thread, until the fruit trails off and the finish fades, a bit shorter than expected. Paul Gregutt
