Gramercy Vineyards 2010 Claret Cabernet Franc-Merlot (North Fork of Long Island)

The nose is austere, with hints of black fruit and dried leaves, but this elegant blend of Cabernet Franc and Merlot builds in intensity on the palate with rich—almost sultry—black currant and cherry flavors, backed by a focused line of acidity. Rich and round in profile, it finishes with a fine coating of ripe, penetrating tannins. Anna Lee C. Iijima
