81pointsGrande River 2015 Syrah (Grand Valley)

High-toned aromas of black cherry and blackberry dominate nose, with tones of rose, black pepper, herbs and vanilla in the background. This wine attacks the palate with metallic flavors of copper pennies, hickory and extremely underripe cranberry. Sharp and lacking in structue, dusty tannins make an appearance on the finish attempting to reign in the matallic and tart berry notes, but are ultimately outmatched. Fiona Adams
