Grego 2004 Old Vines Tempranillo (Madrid)

A touch woody and fiery to start, and then graphite and earthy-leathery aromas come up. The palate is mostly attractive, with solid plum and berry flavors along with tannins that are full but don't fight you. The finish seems a touch hollow and bitter, but overall the wine has good Tempranillo quality. Michael Schachner
