Groom 2006 Sauvignon Blanc (Adelaide Hills)

Although Daryl Groom is now a senior VP at Beam Wine Estates in California, his deal allows him time to do a small amount of his own wines, like this 100% stainless Sauvignon Blanc. It's not overly ripe, but it's not overly green either—meaning that it strikes just the right balance. Hints of ripe peach and melon are matched with vibrant acidity and a slightly creamy texture, all at a reasonably low alcohol reading of 12.8%. Joe Czerwinski
