Guillaume Gonnet 2018 Le Hardi Red (Côtes du Rhône Villages)

Sourced from 50-year-old vines planted in red-clay soils, this full-bodied, fruity red highlights juicy black-cherry and plum flavors edged by a pleasantly bitter rim of walnut skins. A blend of 80% Grenache and 20% Syrah vinified in concrete tanks, the juicy, immediately enjoyable wine is accented by sun-scorched garrigue. Best now–2025. Anna Lee C. Iijima
