If only there was less wood here, the rich Syrah flavors might shine. But at this stage, the high level of toast smothers the rest of the wine. Juicy acidity and fig flavors are under all this wood, and as the wine opens they show more. So maybe in 2–3 years this will be better balanced. Screwcap.
