Intensely earthen tones of smoke and slate abound in this profoundly mineral spätlese. The midpalate brings forth sweeter, sunnier tones of fresh lemon and lime, along with a pleasantly bracing astringency that lends structure to the finish. It's a savory but complex spätlese that needs time to meld. Hold till at least 2020 but its likely to improve for at least a decade beyond that.
