Gusbourne Estate 2010 Brut Reserve Late Disgorged Sparkling (England)

The nose opens with astonishing aromatic intensity, suggesting freshly baked sponge cake drizzled with lemon, honeydew and grape juice. The palate then comes with unexpected slenderness and subtlety: Here, lemon and sponge cake rule, with a billowy and buffered but pervasive, saline freshness. The superfine mousse exudes exquisite creaminess, but all this lightness defies the apparent depth. This is slender but profound and hits you on its creamy, long, layered finish. Anne Krebiehl MW
