Hahn 2004 Syrah (Central Coast)

This wine has more overtly new, toasty oak on it than almost anything I've tasted lately, especially on the finish, which is pure caramel. The wine itself is ripe in fruit, dry, acidic and tannic. It's not a bad wine, but an odd, inelegant one.
