This bottle-aged Pinot walks to its own beat. It's showing a little oxidation on the appearance, and a touch of volatility on the nose, but this adds an element of complexity to the red currants, strawberries, roses on stems and cinnamon notes. The palate is lightweight, juxtaposing bright fruit and elegance with a grip of austere, slightly astringent tannins that seem more derived from the fruit than the barrel. There's a bitterness to the finish, like biting into a grape seed. This is a wine that's personality-filled but that doesn't need to shout to be heard. Drink now–2023. Christina Pickard
