Hans Family Estate 2016 Pinot Noir (Marlborough)

There's a prominent cinnamon bark quality on this Pinot that somewhat dominates the fleshy dark cherry fruit, savory spice and vanilla French oak influences. Give it air and time for it to settle and eventually more intriguing scrubby underbrush notes peak through. On the mid-weight palate, the fruit is silky, sliced through with taut, savory tannins and lifted acidity. A serious Pinot for drinking now–2028. Christina Pickard
