93pointsHans Family Estate 2017 Sur Lie Sauvignon Blanc (Marlborough)

Unsurprisingly, knowing the Herzog's penchant for unique varieties, and artisan, European-style winemaking, the wine bottled from the region's most famed grape is hardly recognizable, so vastly different is its style. Butterscotch colored, it is rich and opulent, thanks to time spent on the lees, but with freshness and vibrancy. Honey, tangerine, lemon curd, fresh hay, underlying mineral, floral and herbal notes can all be found. Drink now–2030. Christina Pickard
