Happs 2016 East of Alice Red (Margaret River)

A big blend of Grenache, Graciano, Shiraz and Matar贸 (aka Mourv猫dre) from a single vineyard in the southern part of Margaret River, this spicy medium-bodied wine changes in glass, morphing from potpourri notes of dried flowers and herbs, black pepper, tangy raspberries, plums and tobacco, to something sweeter and fresher, like just-picked tarragon leaves. The palate is wound with tight chalky savory tannins that structure the juicy fruit and peppery spice into something that will hold up well for the next decade at least. Christina Pickard
