85-89pointsHart Brothers Bowmore 13-Year-Old Islay Single Malt Whisky

The bouquet starts off heavily smoky/peaty but oddly, following aeration, it turns more tanned skin- and rubber-like. The palate entry is concentrated, chalk-like, smoky and intensely peaty; at midpalate things settle down a bit, offering more moderate flavors of tobacco ash, wood smoke, charcoal and sweet grain. Compellingly rambunctious for normally staid Bowmore. P.P.
