Hawley 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon (Dry Creek Valley)

Opens with a sulfury smell that's slow to blow off, masking the underlying blackberry aroma. In the mouth, it's quite extracted and jammy in berry fruit, yet the tannins are tough and astringent. Drinks like a simple country wine.
