Henschke 2004 Johann's Garden Red (Barossa Valley)

Despite weighing in at 15.5% alcohol, this wine carries it well, coming across as satisfyingly ample; zaftig without being heavy. The mouthfilling flavors of boysenberry and black cherry carry hints of vanilla and spice, with enough length on the finish to confirm the wine's quality. The blend is 69% Grenache, 19% Mourvèdre and 12% Shiraz. Joe Czerwinski
