Henschke 2018 Henry's Seven Red (Barossa)

A classic Aussie blend from a classic Aussie producer, this wine needs time in decanter if drinking now for those funky reductive notes to blow off. When they do, the tang of cherries, currants and plums reveal themselves, with more delicate floral notes and a prominent line of earthy, savory, spicy, characters, like a damp forest on a cool morning. Powerful, yet more approachable young than other Henschke reds, well-placed tannins weave through the plush fruit and earthy spice lingers on the finish. Drink until 2035. Christina Pickard
