84pointsHercules Paragon 2002 Shiraz (Western Cape)

Truly a unique Shiraz, with its smoky, leathery and black olive aromas, followed by flavors of black cherry and spice. While appealing overall, it has a slightly syrupy, raisiny quality and some roughness on the palate that distracts slightly from the flavors. This is not really a problem for fans of wines that push the envelope a bit. Susan Kostrzewa
