Hogue 2005 Genesis Syrah (Columbia Valley (WA))

There was significant variation among three different bottles opened. At best this is a tannic, somewhat reductive wine with light fruit that is overwhelmed by new American oak. At worst it tastes mostly of charred wood, bitter smoke, tar and rubber. Paul Gregutt
