This Coonawarra Chardonnay opens with what feels like green-tinged oak and Band-Aid notes. There're some appealing citrus and stone fruit notes underneath but they're fighting to be seen amidst the oak and reduction. Things improve on the palate where a fresh lift of acidity balances a slippery texture. As a whole there's a lack of harmony here, but things do start to knit together with time, so give this air, whether via decanter or vigorous swirling in glass. Christina Pickard
