Fruit for this wine was grown at 1,100 feet—high by Washington standards. The aromas intrigue, with notes of herb, lime zest, lemon and diesel, with the aromas showing some evolution. It drinks bone-dry and has tart, puckering fruit flavors with a big blast of acidity behind them. Chalk notes run throughout and persist on the finish. It fascinates—a unique interpretation of this variety from the valley and state, with the acidity providing much of the appeal. Sean P. Sullivan
