Horsepower 2019 Sur Echalas Vineyard Syrah (Walla Walla Valley (OR))

Cellar Selection

Fruit for this wine is grown on stakes and the site plowed by horse. Initially reserved aromas of olive brine, cigar box, crushed flower, firepit, medicine and a whiff of pepper lead to soft, lighter styled savory flavors that pack a briny punch, filling in over time. There's less midpalate density than recent vintages, still with a lot of intensity of flavor. A crazy-long finish caps it off. Give it additional time in bottle or decant. Best after 2025. Sean P. Sullivan
