Horton 2017 Pinotage (Virginia)

Cranberry, cherry and raspberry aromas show just a whiff of red meat and rubber. The palate opens with ripe fruit but sprints toward raw tobacco and oak tones that overwhelm toward the finish that hits with a kick of spice. The tannins are dry, and the acidity is balanced. Very enjoyable, this shows off the potential of Pinotage in the state. Fiona Adams
