Howard Park 2015 Leston Shiraz (Margaret River)

A little reductive at first, give this time in a decanter or a glass. It soon reveals a heady nose of plum and berry fruit, green peppercorn, mint and soft baking spices, backed by a slightly charred, oak-driven character, like the smoldering embers of a fire. The palate is surprisingly powerful, tightly would with muscular tannins. A granular texture, pronounced acidity, drying oak and a sweet and sour fruit flavor are all present, too. Drink now and over the next few years. Christina Pickard
