Hoyt Family Vineyards 2012 Petite Sirah (Paso Robles)

The nose on this bottling is a bit reserved at first, with a touch of tar and beef char as well as black-cherry syrup. The acidity and tannins are there in judicious amounts on the palate, but the flavors remain a tad hidden, with just hints of blueberry and pepper poking out. Matt Kettmann
