Hugo Casanova 2007 Reserva Carmenère (Maule Valley)

Heavily roasted at first, and then comes a distinct wave of root beer, olive and barbecue sauce. The palate is decent in feel, maybe a little astringent, with flavors of creamy plum and berry along with sweet, candied oak. Finishes minty and dry, like the dust from the gum that used to come with baseball cards. Michael Schachner
