Huia 2016 Made With Organic Grapes Pinot Noir (Marlborough)

This is currently in an odd spot, but seems to be heading to tastier places. Right now it needs time in decanter to open up. It then offers lovely red fruit and a meaty, hoisin-like savoriness. The palate is muffled, emphasizing the drying, raspy tannins. But the juicy fruit lingers long on the finish. A wine that needs time to reveal its charms. Christina Pickard
