Hungry Hawk 2017 Chardorino White (San Diego County)

Editors' Choice

This is an atypical but bold and ultimately successful blend of 90% Chardonnay and 10% Albarino from San Diego. It's light in the glass and shows aromas of lemon peel, lime balm and butterscotch on the nose. The palate's rich, nearly sweet pome-fruit flavors are cut by key-lime-peel tension and a tense chalkiness. Matt Kettmann
