The nose is challenging at first: There's tree bark, sarsaparilla, lots of spicy oak and even some barnyard. Expressive cherry, plum and blackberry flavors peer out from underneath a cover of creamy oak that carries onto the finish. It's quite svelte and racy for a ripe wine, and everything seems to be firmly in place.
