Innocent Bystander 2019 Pinot Noir (Central Otago)

This is a tightly pinched but varietally correct Pinot from New Zealand's most well-known region for the variety. Savory, earthy spice notes wind around raspberry and cherry fruit that gets a little muffled in the winemaking. The palate is even more tightly wound and austere, with angular acidity and a lack of fruit depth to balance drying tannins that finish on the bitter side. Christina Pickard
