This is a ripe—but not confected—Shiraz from the Yarra Valley in Victoria. A peppery nuance adds character to the otherwise primary cherry and red currant fruit aromas. The palate is medium-bodied, the fruit, spice and tannins well-balanced, although there's thinness and an astringency at the finish that detract. Christina Pickard
