The winery's seldom-made reserve, this is a blend of 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Cabernet Franc and 10% Syrah. Among a stellar group of 2009 J. Bookwalter reds, this is the toughest to decipher—at least at first. It shows good balance, a forward, fruity start, and then a descent into very dark, very toasty barrel flavors.
