J. Lohr 2013 Falcon's Perch Pinot Noir (Monterey County)

A very reliable and widely available bottle for daily drinking, this shows blackberry, clove and rust on the fairly dense nose. It's quite juicy on the palate as well, with raspberries and bramble as well as sour plum skins and bright acidity. There's a touch of steel in the background. Matt Kettmann
