J Wilkes 2014 Pinot Noir (Sta. Rita Hills)

Tart pomegranate and cranberry meet with strong sagebrush and mace on the nose of this fairly priced bottling. The palate shows nutmeg, pine needle and juniper seasonings, which give depth to the bright and crisp cranberry-orange rind backbone. Pencil shavings add to the complexity. Matt Kettmann
